Karla Kay Benjamin is the Marketing Director for Stanwood Camano Arts Festivals which produces Summer Arts Jam in addition to other upcoming festivals. Her employment history includes serving on Youth Advisory Committees for the City of Redmond and the City of Everett. She has owned her own art instruction business for 30 years teaching privately and publicly out of her studio and publicly through the Boys and Girls Club and City Venues (Redmond Old Firehouse, City of Kirkland, City of Issaquah, City of Everett, City of Marysville). Karla was also employed as a program coordinator (Drug Court Coordinator) for Snohomish County Superior Court for 16+ years (1999-2016)
In addition to her program coordinating and marketing work, Karla owns an art company, Karla Kay Art. She specializes in hand painted silk scarves and tapestries. Karla attended college at Arizona State University and have a BFA with an emphasis in Fiber Arts/Surface Design.
She enjoys working on fabric because when the fabric moves it seems to bring the art to life. She also enjoys working on silk because of the beautiful way it absorbs the dyes and shimmers when it moves and the light hits it. You will see both nature and animal themes in Karla's work. She also likes the outdoors and that is reflected in her art.
